Learn how the market works without risking real money

F.O.M.O. Shield is a stock market simulator where you study real companies, trade with virtual money and see the consequences of your own decisions — before you risk real ones.

No real money. No brokerage account. No investment advice.

The app's home screen: market clock, portfolio balance and market indices

Be clear about what this is

Simulated money only

Balances, trades and profits inside the app are entirely virtual. Nothing you do here reaches a real market, and no simulated result is a forecast of a real one.

Not a broker

We take no deposits, hold no funds, execute no real trades and connect to no brokerage accounts.

Not investment advice

Scores, verdicts and articles are made for learning. They help you make sense of the market, but they are not recommendations to buy or sell securities.

What you actually do in the app

Real market data from real companies, and a safe place to be wrong in.

Study a company before you trade it

Open any listed company and get the essentials on one screen: the current price, the change today, and a chart from one day out to its whole trading history.

  • A financial strength score — the app's own, built from the company's key metrics, with every point explained
  • Every metric explained in plain language, not textbook jargon
  • Company histories written from public disclosures, in the Company Encyclopedia

Place an order and live with the consequences

Market and limit orders, position sizing as a share of the cash you have, and a 0.5% commission — because real trades are never free either.

  • Limit orders sit and wait, then notify you when they fill
  • Every order is confirmed on a summary sheet before it goes through
  • Your holdings, average cost and unrealised P&L are tracked for you

Find out what your portfolio is really doing

Portfolio Health analyses the structure of your holdings — diversification, concentration, sector balance and stability — and explains each number instead of just showing it.

  • See how much of your portfolio rests on a single company
  • See which sectors you have quietly doubled up on
  • Asset allocation broken down holding by holding

Catch your own habits, not just your results

Market Simulation runs a portfolio through a compressed market period with weekly funding, dividends and commissions. The Psychology Meter then looks at how you traded, not just at how much you made.

  • Concentration, cash buffer and ETF exposure, scored as behaviour
  • A full trade breakdown: every fee, dividend and top-up accounted for
  • Sessions keep running while you are away, and survive a restart

Know what the market is doing before you look at prices

New York time on a dial, with all four session phases counting down: pre-market, the main session, after hours, and closed. Next to it, the phase the market is in — weekend, holiday, when it opens again — and a read on the liquidity and volatility of that phase.

  • How long is left until the open, or until the close
  • Weekends and holidays you no longer have to keep in your head
  • Why a quiet hour and a volatile one are not the same hour

Read the company, not just its numbers

The Company Encyclopedia tells a business's story in plain language — how it started, where it went badly wrong, and what holds it up today. Written from the companies' own public disclosures, with no forecasts and no recommendations.

  • Reads like an article, not like a filing
  • Ad-free and always available with Premium; free after a short ad without it
  • The catalogue keeps growing, company by company

In development

Funds: running money as a team

The largest piece being built right now. The app gets an exchange of virtual funds: you found a fund, hire a team of analysts, and other users put virtual money into it. Everything underneath is the real mechanic of a fund — units, NAV, holdings, a trade log — with none of the real money.

A fund of your own

Name, ticker, strategy, starting capital, and a rulebook your team is then held to. Founding a fund is a Premium capability.

Units and NAV, as funds really work

An investor buys units at the current NAV, not a share. Holdings rise, NAV rises, every unit is worth more. Virtual money, real arithmetic.

A team with actual roles

An analyst proposes trades, a risk manager flags the dangerous ones, a co-manager approves alongside the head, a trader executes what was approved. The head sets each person's rights by hand.

One decision, start to finish

A proposal with its reasoning, a risk flag, an approval or a refusal, then execution. Who proposed what — and how it turned out — stays on the record.

Funds sit in Search

Fund tickers turn up next to companies, each with its own page: NAV, assets under management, holdings, trade history, investors and charts.

Its own wallet

Fund capital is a third isolated pool. It never mixes with your portfolio or your market simulations.

Bankruptcy and succession

A fund can be run into the ground. Then holdings are sold off, investors are paid out, and an abandoned fund passes to a new head.

A career inside a fund

Hiring through an employee marketplace, a track record that follows you, and a way up from analyst to co-manager.

Still being built: some of these screens are assembled and in testing, and parts of the mechanic may change before release. No dates promised. Like everything else in the app, every amount involved is simulated — a fund here raises no real money and manages no real assets.

Free and Premium

Every amount in this section is virtual and exists only inside the simulations. Premium widens the practice and removes the ads; it gives no access to real assets and does not turn the app into a source of investment recommendations.

All amounts are simulated. Premium is a monthly auto-renewing subscription billed by Google Play, at the price Google shows for your country before you confirm. Full purchase, renewal and cancellation terms are on the Premium page.

In developmentFunds

What Premium is set to unlock in the Funds module. Everything a fund head does follows from one thing — founding the fund — so that single capability carries the whole management side with it.

  Free Premium
Founding your own fund—Yes
The management panel: holdings, trades, treasury—Yes
Hiring a team and setting each member's rights—Yes
Writing the fund's rulebook—Yes
Approving or refusing the team's trade proposals—Yes
Working in someone else's fund — analyst, trader, risk managerYesYes
Buying units in other people's fundsYesYes

As it stands today there is exactly one subscription check in the whole module — founding a fund. The rest of it is open to everyone, and the final model may still change before release.

F.O.M.O. Shield is intended for educational and entertainment purposes only. All balances, trades and simulation results are virtual. Nothing in the app is investment, financial or trading advice. F.O.M.O. Shield is not a broker and provides no investment advisory services. Past simulation results do not guarantee future results.

The app is in closed testing

It is on Google Play as a closed beta while the last pieces are finished, so there is no public download link yet. If you want to be let into the test, write to us and we will add you.
